Moving from Windows to Mac help IBM ... save money

After Apple transferred 30,000 Mac  to IBM, the cost of using IBM computers has been dropped significantly.

In 2014, Apple and IBM jointly signed a historic cooperation agreement, whereby "Green Giant" will develop applications working on iOS to help Apple to accelerate the process of mobile market conquest in the enterprises. By early this year, the two companies again achieved a new contract signed: IBM decided to import 50,000 Mac for its employees to use.

Just a few months later, the IBM employees excitedly expressed their feelings with the new computers. According to them, Mac met very few problems compared to PCs running Windows. This has helped IBM significantly reduced funding to support IT in daily operations.

During JAMF seminar, Fletcher Previn, vice president for IBM's IT systems, said the program "Mac at IBM" currently achieved very good results. The number of Mac and iOS devices that IBM was using had reached 13,000. IBM has increased Mac devices uses from 0 to 30,000 within 6 months.

IBM's vice president, said while the initial price of Mac can be very expensive, high-end line of Apple computers actually are saving money for IBM: "Mac retains value after 3 to 4 years. With the ability to anticipate and automate processes used to manage Macs, IBM does not need to back up all of its computers, significantly reducing the time for the IT teams. Each Mac that we buy is helping make money and save money for the IBM ".

Documentation of Previn in JAMF concludes: "The price increase of a Mac has brought valuable efficiency many times over the entire lifespan of the equipment." To illustrate this argument, IBM's vice president confirmed only 5% of Mac users require IT support, while this figure amounted to PC users is 40%.
